The word tigridia or tiger flower, would suggest a striped flower, whereas in point of fact this flower is spotted. Mr. Burbank suggests that the word "leopard" or "panther" would have been more appropriate; and that the term "Jaguar flower" would have been still more significant, inasmuch as the tigridias come from South America, the home of the Jaguar. The specimens here shown are hybrids of a very interesting type.
