The laurels are shrubs of deserved popularity, owing to their hardiness, the beauty of their evergreen foliage, and the exquisite quality of their flowers. Nevertheless, they have been much less introduced into our gardens than they deserve to be. Interesting crossbreeding experiments may be made with the different species.
