A Petrified Redwood
This is one of the largest and most perfectly preserved specimens hitherto exhumed at the petrified forest, near Santa Rota. It is a good sized specimen of the redwood (Sequoia sempervirens). Its entire substance is solid stone, but the appearance of the original texture of wood and bark is wonderfully preserved.
