The Blood Plum of Satsuma
This is the plum about which Mr. Burbank read in the Mercantile Library of San Francisco many years ago. His interest was aroused and he sent to Japan for the plant, along with others, and subsequently utilized it to very great advantage in his plant developing experiments. The original Satsuma imported by Mr. Burbank is the parent of all the red-fleshed plums now grown in America.
