A Cactus Patch in Fruit
This picture by no means shows the best that the spineless cactus can do in the way of fruit production. It is selected as representing a fair average. Even at that, the aggregate mass of fruit in this patch of opunttas is enormous. The fruit itself still retains some spicules. - although Mr. Burbank expects to banish these in due course,-but there are no thorns on the slabs to interfere with the gathering of the crop.
